Lenticulars are a 3D illusion process that has been used for many years on everything from record covers to toys to "Winkie" postcards featuring women winking at the viewer. Many people know them from various religious pieces featuring 3D angels, Sport Flix baseball cards or the Rolling Stone cover for "Their Satanic Majesties Request". A lot of film studios are now using the illusions in their movie posters, and you see more of them all of the time. Recently, TV Guide used lenticulars for their covers for the Star Wars Attack of The Clones movie.

Lenticulars are unique because you do not need special glasses to see the illusion. They are made by taking a multi layered image, merging it into one layer, and placing a special lens over the image so that each layer appears separately depending upon where the viewer is in relation to the picture. The finer the lens, the more layers can be seen.

There are two basic types of lenticulars, 3D images and Morphing images. The 3D images give the illusion of depth, while the morphing images change from one thing to another. There are also some that combine the two processes.
