Images of 120 different gods, goddesses and prophets from almost every religious school were scanned into an Apple Macintosh Centris 650. They were not drawn, painted or rendered by me so as not to be disrespectful to certain belief systems that prohibit the use of iconic imagery. It was by searching for over 6 months that paintings or photos of all of these deities were found. These were the days before the World Wide Web and finding archival images was quite a task back then.

These images were placed in a diagram known as a "Cosmic Snowflake", which was designed by Frater Achad (a one-time pupil of Aleister Crowley) that includes 120 different Sephirot (points on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life). The Snowflake was originally drawn for Achad by William Ransom and first appeared in black and white in the book The Anatomy of The Body of God. The color painting of the "Cosmic Snowflake" used in this image was done by Steffi Grant and taken from Art and Images of The Occult.

In the center of the Snowflake, we see Alex Grey's painting of two people copulating. This is the "Big Bang". The primary act of creation. This is not to say that consciousness begins at this point or that sentient life instantly pops into existence during sex, but the process begins. The "Big Bang" is a metaphor for when your mother and father made you, as well as for the beginning of creation. But since we only know life and the universe in relation to our own time that we have been alive, it the world might as well have started at that point. For all you know, it could have.

A large version of this image hung at Nova Express Cafe for many years. I recently re-made this image as a 3D Lenticular that can be viewed HERE.
